I picked up a bucket of once fired 9mm cases. While most were commercial, there were quite a few military that I would like to identify. The head stamp has a "9" a date that ranges from 42 to 45 and what looks like "MM" of course it would be "WW". Did Winchester-Western make 9mm ammo during the war? The primers have a circular crimp which makes them hard to deprime, maybe not worth the effort.

If it has a black primer lacquer primer sealant, it's likely WWII Canadian 9MM ammo. During WWII, Canada produced 9MM and 7.92 (8MM Mauser) ammo. I shot a lot of the 9MM and 8MM ammo in the 1970's. The ammo is boxer primed and reloadable.

There are photos on the net of it.

Here's a photo of a head stamp in post #28. The guys on the forum don't know what it is though.

Here's a good photo of the 8 MM ammo they made.

Canadian, yes. 1941-1945, no. Canadian WW2 9mm production would have used berdan primers. Ammunition collectors believe they were made in Canada for the CIA in the 1950's, 41=1951, 45=1955. Same for 7.92 MM.
