In case anyone is encouraged to contact their representative, hopefully a committee member, I thought I would post this. It probably belongs in the legal or activism areas, but I thought it would get more reads here in the short time frame. This bill has been introduced many times over the years and never made it out of committee. Maybe this is the year.

According to a NRA-ILA post, there is a hearing this Tuesday (9/13/2011) in the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security for H.R. 822, that would require states to recognize each others CCW's.

Here is a link to the post.

This shouldn't even require congressional action because of the "full faith and credit" clause of the constitution. The people moaning about this somehow infringing on states rights didn't read the full faith and credit clause RIGHT AFTER they didn't read the 2nd amendment.

Would require all states to allow out-of-state visitors to carry concealed firearms as long as the laws of the vistors' home states allow them to do so.

Supposedly it has 241 co-sponsors in the House of representatives right now. So it is very likely to pass there. Of course, then it has to make it through the Democrat controlled Senate. If it passes there, then we'll see if Obama has the cajones to Veto a gun rights bill in an election year.

Write your Senators, both of them!

There is precedent of using the "public policy doctrine" to prevent a license from being recognized from another state under the full faith and credit clause. I would be glad to see that usage curtailed.

It's about allowing visitors from other states to continue to exercise their conceal carry. It does not address what any specific states allow their own residents to do.

The hearing before the U.S. House subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security, regarding H.R. 822, which would set up a national system of interstate reciprocity for concealed handgun carry permits. The video of the subcommittee hearing is an hour and 45 minutes.

The Police Commissioner of Philadelphia obviously doesn't think any citizen should have a gun period.:fire:

The good police commish contradicted himself on several occasions, and stated flatly that officer safety is far more important than civilian safety. He needs to retire to NJ or IL, where he can "feel' safer. Anyone notice when asked about what requirements for CCW that might let him possibly support this bill, the first word out of his mouth was "registration"?

The Nazi's recognized the necessity of firearm registration also.

"the infamous Nazi (initial) rampage against Germany's Jews--took place in November 1938. It was preceded by the confiscation of firearms from the Jewish victims. On Nov. 8, the New York Times reported from Berlin, "Berlin Police Head Announces 'Disarming' of Jews," explaining:

'The Berlin Police President, Count Wolf Heinrich von Helldorf, announced that as a result of a police activity in the last few weeks the entire Jewish population of Berlin had been "disarmed" with the confiscation of 2,569 hand weapons, 1,702 firearms and 20,000 rounds of ammunition.' Any Jews still found in possession of weapons without valid licenses are threatened with the severest punishment.

On the evening of Nov. 9, Adolf Hitler planned the attack. "All Jewish stores are to be destroyed immediately . . . . Jewish synagogues are to be set on fire . . . . All Jews are to be disarmed. In the event of resistance they are to be shot immediately."
