Hello everyone!
I've had my Glock 19 Gen 4 for a few years now, and I absolutely love it. 100% reliable, and I plan on making it my primary home defense handgun to replace my reliable but obsolete (to me) Ruger GP100 in that role.
I have not changed a thing on the gun since I got it, but given it's new role as home defense handgun, I'm looking to add both a tactical light and a set of night sights.
I've done some research, and have come to really like the Heinie Straight Eight night sights. My CCW instructor had them on his G22, and they were really good looking and I loved the sight picture. It was in the well-lit classroom though so I couldn't see how well they lit up.
I am wanting to buy these, but want to be sure they are good to go. Will they be appropriate for home defense use? Are they rugged and well made, how long will the tritium last? Are they capable of decent accuracy? I am wanting to avoid the 3-dot night sight system, as I'm not a fan of the sight picture. I like on these sights how you just "dot the I" and pull the trigger.
These sights are kind of pricey, so I am just looking for some feedback on these before I "pull the trigger" if you will.
Thanks so much guys!
PS: I'm also looking for light recommendations. I live in a small 1-bedroom apartment, by myself, so I guess I'd need a weapon light with a large "beam" but am unsure. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
