Heinie Straight 8 Sights - w/ pics.

I like a dot-on-dot sight arrangement. I looked for a while and found what I had in mind - Heinie Straight 8s.

I saw on Springfield's web site that they supply and install Heine Straight 8's - what I didn't know is that they were tritium - what a nice surprise.

The sights, their installation, return shipping, the whole deal cost me $113.95.

Here are two pics, they are on the slide of my XD45:

Well, what do you think?

I loved them when they were on my old XD40 before I sold it. They really are fantastic sights. I'm thinking about buying a set for my USPc40.

Will SA install them on other guns besides XDs?

I want them on my Kimber Ultra Carry II, and also my USPc40. Is buying them from Heinie, then having them installed locally the cheapest option?

Also, for those who have experience with the .125" and .140" rear notch width, do you like the slightly wider rear notch? I don't know if there's much of a reason to pay an extra $25 for the wider notch width if the standard .125" width works fine. I don't like how on my Glock 19 (w/ factory night sights) the front sight post almost fills up the rear notch completely. The factory 3-dot standard sights on my USPc, however, allow a little more light to show around the front sight..which I prefer.

I'm going to order them and want to be sure of which size to get for both the UCII and the USPc. Any input on the subject would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. - CP

I'm a fan of the straight 8s also. I have, however, managed to sprout rust on a couple sets of them. If that's a concern, I'd advise to keep them clean and oiled. I've found that a periodic blast of Boeshield seems to do the trick.

Thanks Bix, I'll keep that in mind.
