For those of us waiting for the gun's release: the design engineers and the manufacturer had a "falling out". Now the litigation begins. Currently the gun is in vaporware status.

beag,

Yeah, I thought the same thing. It's a neat design. While I hope that it materializes, I ain't holdin' my breath. :D

I just don't get why people want these so badly.

It is around the same size or slightly larger than your average compact 9mm that holds 6-7 rounds yet the double tap only holds two rounds. They are so close to the size of the Kel Tec PF9 and Ruger LC9 I just don't get the intended market.

I really thought they looked neat until I saw that they were HUGE for a derringer and very expensive.

The name Heizer Double Tap has been changed to just Double Tap. Their facebook page has lots of info. They are actively looking for a manufacturing partner. Double Tap stated Heizer manufacturing could not produce the gun in the quantities needed to fill orders. I don't know why it took them so long to figure that out.

Problem is gun manufacturers are tapped out. Can't make the guns they already market let alone more.

I think Kiln has put his finger on it.

You can get a smaller automatic with more capacity for fewer dollars.

I would have only been interested if the cheapest model wasn't $500. For the less than 500 category you can get any number of pocket .380s, 9mms, 22Mag etc. Not as powerful as 2 rounds of .45 or 9mm but the capacity is a trade off for power. All in all much better options than spending 500-800 on 2 shots.
