Hello,
I recently inherited a quite a number of handguns and rifles from my father. I have been able to identify most of what was left to me except for one handgun. Below are some pics of it. It has french writing on the barrel and the right side of the action, most of which didnt turn out well in the pics. Ill try and take better pics if needed. Any info is appreciated, Thanks

Looks like a Unique in .22 lr (if I'm reading the slide correctly). As far as I know, these were made in the early 50s. Someone else probably knows more about them.

Those are interesting grips!

Welcome to The High Road.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Unless they were given as a gift in which case... party on!

The pistol is the Unique Model 52, sold in this country by Sears and Roebuck. It was made by Manufacture d'Armes de Pyrenees, in Hendaye, France. (Hendaye is in Haute Pyrenees province, in the Basque region, just on the French side of the Spanish border, which accounts for the resemblance to some Spanish pistols.)

It is a good little gun, but should not be dry fired as the firing pin can batter the edge of the chamber. I am not sure what caused those grips to warp so badly, but you are not alone, as the same thing (not quite as bad) happened to mine. I don't know if new grips like the originals are available; Gun Parts Corp. (www.gunpartscorp.com) has grips, but they are black plastic. They should be better than those, though.

Jim

Thanks for the info. As for the grips I dont know what happened to them but the gun was sitting in a hot florida garage for a long time.
