Hello, I'm Maggoty.
I've been trying to research gun laws for when I get out of the army. I grew up in Maryland so you can imagine what I'm used to. Anyways this site and packing.org caught my eye as some pretty reasonable places to ask around about guns as well as laws.
I'm in Iraq right now though, so don't expect me to be quick on responding to things. But I'll do my best.

BTW I am moving to Arizona when I get out, a place I am assured is much more gun friendly.

Here's one book you'll want: THE ARIZONA GUN OWNER'S GUIDE by Alan Korwin. As straightforward as gun law can be. Alan is one of the good guys.

Arizona is a great place for gun owners. Open carry is not only lawful on the books, but also in practice, even in the city. If you end up in the Phoenix area, Ben Avery is a top notch range with few restrictions on what you may shoot and how you may shoot it.

Thank you very much. It's not often we can tell a soldier how much we appreciate him/her putting his/her @ss on the line for our safety and protection.

I live in Texas and it is also a gun friendly state, although we do not have open carry. Since Wayne is in AZ, I would follow his advice. Hope you come home soon.

I think you will find as you look farther west the laws in general loosen up, until you reach the west coast. Then things look almost as bad as the east coast.
