Guys - I purchased a Beretta 390 (3901). The new version with the smooth (non humped) receiver that resembles the 391.

The stock has a hard but plate & no recoil pad. My wife is 5' 5". She is strong just not very tall. She shot my 391 for dove & limited out. She did ok with the 391 but it was long for her & she was shooting light loads.

We are going goose hunting and I am worried the 390 will be too long & heavy loads will kick too much, especially with the hard but plate.

The local gun shop said there is no way to cut down the synthetic stock & add a recoil pad.

Is there a synthetic RL (reduced length) stock available for the newer version of the 390 (the 3901)?

Any other fix? I would like to set up this gun for the wife & the teenagers.

Any suggestions? Help!

I've been reading a couple other forums & it seems like the way to go is to get a replacement wood stock for the Beretta 390 (3901), cut it down & add a pad.

Anyone know WHERE I can get a relatively inexpensive wood stock for a Beretta 3901?

New Beretta 3901 Synthetic Stock Can Be Shortened

Guys - Just an FYI - Everyone I have spoken to told me there was no way to modify (shorten) the synthetic stock on my brand new Beretta 3091. This is not correct.

I can not speak for the older 3091s but the new one I just purchased has tunnels for the butt plate screws that allow the stock to be cut & shortened.

I am fortunate to live very close to Briley's Manufacturing

http://www.briley.com/aboutus.aspx

Briley's is well known for choke manufacturing & gunsmithing.

Sent the wife in this morning & they are determining correct LOP, cutting stock & adding recoil pad.

Congratulations on finding a way to get the LOP shortened. What recoil pad did you decide to use?

Thanks I am very pleased.

Briley's has the gun right now. I will post tomorrow & let you know what pad they put on it.
