I was cruising the preowned section of my favorite gunshop today after work when a sleek little beauty caught my eye. It was a 20 ga. Ithaca 37 Ultra- Featherweight. It has a 26" vent ribbed barrel with a fixed Mod choke. It is in as near "Like New" condition as a used gun could be. It was priced at $350. It was all I could do to tear myself away from it. I know absolutely nothing about Ithacas. Is that a fair price? I looked on Gunbroker and found a few Featherweights but no Ultras. I googled it and found even less. Any words of wisdom You could pass my way would be much appreciated. This little sweetie would nicely fill the 20 ga. gap in my safe. I know there is currently a thread running on 37's but I didn't feel like reading 19 pages of posts. Educate me quickly.

Thanks Black Talon. I'm going to go put it on layaway tommorrow. Hope it's still there. I could tell from the other thread that you are a 37 go-to guy

Does it have the regular pistol stock or the straight English style stock? The English stocks were not uncommon on the Ultras and seem to fetch a small premium over the pistol grip guns.

Great gun, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Waterhouse, pistol grip, checkered grip and slide. Made in Ithaca,N.Y. and very very clean. I would rate it an easy 98% and now has my name onthe layaway tag. Any one know what these guns weigh? Ultra-Featherweight is an accurate description.

This won't be too accurate, but my regular 20 ga. featherweight weighs about 6 pounds and I believe the ultra was supposed to cut over a pound off of the gun. I've read estimates in the 4.6 pound range, but I've never had both a scale and an Ultra at the same time.

If you buy it and decide you hate it let me know :D

Waterhouse, Will do. But I dont expect that to happen. My "Gun Budget" is currently curtailed due to two recent purchases so it'll be a month or so before I can finalize the deal. I'll post a thread after I get it.
