help choosing a cartridge/caliber for target shooting

6mm br is easier to shoot from barricades due to less recoil. the problem with it has been that on the long shots, it doesn't have enough energy so a lot of PRS match ROs are nice guys, but not shooters. they're local kids or something and they're just not good at calling hits or catching trace. they rely on seeing the target move (they're always moving in the wind) or hearing hits etc and for years if you were shooting a 6mm you could expect to give up a few shots per match cause an RO would just not see it. but past few years that's a lot less of an issue becaues most of the 800+ yard targets have flashers on them. (btw the ones magnetospeed makes are awesome)

dasher is a lot faster than the BR, so it's definitely an advantage and i doubt there's much difference in recoil between the two, but i think the BR will be super easy to load and more consistent like the x47 while i believe the dasher is more annoying and finicky

a custom 22-250 with a fast twist and heavy projos, say, 80-90g is awesome for sure. however... vast majority of matches have limited velocity to 3200 fps because speed kills steel targets. and if you're going to stick with the factory twists and 55g bullets, the low BC sheds velocity fast. hard to reach out very far with them.

Medium range accuracy 600 yds.......wow......I feel good if I get hand load I feel good with at 400 yds with my 7mm mag, the 30-06 at 300yds, I know they'll shoot farther but the accuracy is iffy.
I must be an under achiever.

Yeah, me too :(

My custom built 22-250 will reach out there, but it won't bang the gong as well as a .30 :D
