Greetings,
I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on a problem that I'm having with my new AR.

First the specs.

Bushmaster upper - 16" HBar, with an inexpensive Swift 4x32 scope mounted on the carry handle.

DPMS lower w/6 position stock

Two different types of reloads by two different people - myself and a friends

My reloads;
25 gr AA2460 under a Winchester 55gr JBT lit off by CCI Small Magnum Rifle Primers
OAL = 2.230

My friends Reloads;
25 gr H335 under a Winchester 55gr JBT lit off by Winchester Small Rifle Primers
OAL= I believe about the same as mine

Problem;
At approx 30 yards scope is holding approx 1" groups about 1" higher than POA. This is the same with both of our reloads.

At 100 yards POA is the same as above but all shots are nicely grouped about 18" high. Again, same grouping with both of our reloads.

Question: Is the cheap scope the problem? I only have about 100 rounds through it at this point. Next time out I'm going to remove the scope and use the irons to see what it'll do.

All opinions are welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Richard

No problem, except you have it zeroed at about 400 yards.

Adjust the scope down until it is hitting dead on at 200 and you will be fine.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'll have to do it at 100 due to limited available distance for shooting and these OLD eyeballs w/the 4x scope.

Thanks again,
Cheers,
Richard

You can also get a ballistics chart that closely matches your loads and calculate how much low you should be hitting at 25 or 50 yards, then zero to that much below POA at the selected distance.

Is this the scope with the bullet drop compensator. Make sure you have it at 100 yards which is all the way down. Then you take off the center cap and adjust it to POA at 100. It will walk up with you after you have it right. Pretty good cheap scopes if you set them right.

swift is a pretty reliable scope, I would also say you are zero'd wrong.
i would start with a zero that is dead on at 25 yards if you can, then immediately jump out to 100 and see where it is at. It should be a few inches high, if it is like 5 inches high or higher, I would say you should either just zero at 100 yds, then check it at 200, or replace the scope.

Thanks for all the tips.. I'll try and zero at 100 and see what happens.

NC-MIKE.. thanks for the link. lots of good reading.

Cheers,
Richard

Easy! If you go hunting with it, just aim for the legs :)

Seriously though, its just zeroed too far out, enjoy!
