Thinking of doing my next AR15 build as civilian legal LMG. Plan to run it off Surefire magazines and Magpul drums (unless someone knows a more affordable alternative) but what I'm really in the market for is a 20" cold hammer forged chrome lined heavy barrel with a 1:7 twist anyone know a place that sells one ?

Well I still haven't found the exact barrel but I did find a stainless steel 416 chf heavy barrel

So after doing some looking around online my eye has caught the M27 infantry automatic weapon, pretty much an HK416. So with that style gun in mind and me being ghetto poor buying a real one is NOT an option, neither are the clones out there. My plan is do to an AR15 with the same concept in mind. I do have an Adams Arms short stroke piston kit, found 14.5 SOCOM barrels. Wondering who makes a close enough looking style quadrail ?

You may want to re-think the whole thing. The system you are describing sounds like it fires from the closed bolt with no barrel change ability. Crane determined that a M4A1 will reach cook-off temperature and the barrel and bolt will begin to break down after 120 rounds cyclic on full auto at an ambient air temperature of 75 degrees.
Cool good to know ! I want to utilize this piston kit, and know its cuts the accuracy so was thinking reliability in high volume of fire but might just do like everyone else and go short barrel with a suppressor, check out the fixed one save some money
