Help, FN Mauser identification

Please can someone help me id this rifle, looks like the FN Mauser picture on the wikipedia file under fn mauser 3006, except no sling ring on barrel, barrel is longer and thinner,stock lock bolt on side is more plain just two holes in it. Markings on side of breach "FAB.NAT.D'ARMES DE GUERRE HERSTAL-BELGIOUE" and top of barrel and butt plate has FN logo, on top of barrel stamped a little crown with R under it then a star with K under,then a lion figure on a line and PV under it and then another crown with E and LG under then a star under that. Please is this rifle any good, has it got a reputation any info would be much appreciated,

Id have to see a picture but might be a belgian model 1935 thier chambered in 7.65x53 and it took me a while to figure out what i had when i first got one.

What you are describing are the Belgian proof marks. What I am not seeing is markings that would narrow the description of markings that would I.D. the gun as commercial, military or a re-worked military. FN made a number of guns. I, in fact the Belgian Army used a Mauser 98 of Belgian manufacture in .30-06 on top of the bazillion they exported in various calibers. If the FN is in a large oval on top of the action its likely commercial if the caliber is on the barrel.

The rifles made for the Belgian Army in .30-'06 as the Model 1950 were marked "ABL" on the receiver ring. They use Springfield clips.

Note the OP doesn't say his rifle is .30-'06, only that the one on the other site is.

Hi guys, 30 06 is above the stamps on the barrel and a very tiny arrow type sign with what looks like tiny writing behind it but its to small to read stamped on the side of the action housing, crome venadium steel is also stamped on the barrel. FN is in an oval on top of the breach. the rifle also doesnt look old in design and condition and the stock if fairly yellow with nice tigers eye type grain, looking at the checkering design Im sure its the origional.

Then it is a sporting rifle, not military configuration, right?
"Just like" is not much help in identifying stuff; real pictures of the actual rifle is what it takes.

So you have an FN Mauser .30-06 sporting rifle.
All the little stamps are various Belgian proof marks.
It is a darned fine hunting rifle, no worry about quality and value.
There were at least two different model variations under different names over a 20+ year period in the 1950s and 1960s, maybe later. I no longer have the book necessary to sort out the fine details.

Does it have the magazine thumb cutout on the left receiver rail, or is it solid?

Pictures of the receiver and barrel would help a lot.

FN produced Mauser sporter actions for Marlin, H&R, Colt, High Standard, Sears/J. C. Higgins, Weatherby as well as direct sales to custom gunmakers. All of them would have the Belgian proof marks on the receiver. This is just the American market, they also sold actions to many other gun companies in Europe and elsewhere.

FN also marketed their own sporters from 1947 to the early 1970's. These were marketed under both the Browning and FN banners. The differences over the years are subtle, but you should be able to narrow it down by using your google-fu and comparing the marks and code numbers to various sites for Hi Power pistols which will have many of the same proofs and generate a lot of interest.

FAB Nat

I have a Fab Nat D'arms Gurerre, Herstal- Bergique in a 22-250 cal. I know this is a sporter version of a military rife. It ha a Douglas supreme barrel and a mannlicher stock. The serial number on the action is 1850 can anyone help me with the year of the action. Thank you any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ron J.

Without photos likey not. As indcated previously a FN '98 action covers a lot of ground. If the national crest was ground off and no other marking survive?

Look in the out-of-the-way nooks and crannies for shaking hands, cap on a pole. I draw a blank on your description.
