What do you want to know?

It is a No 1203 Heavy Duty All-Purpose Hunter inspired by the venerable Marble's Woodcraft. It could have been made anytime during the '60s/'70s.

Thank you HSO!
Where might a knife like this have been purchased?
Could it have been military issue, or is more likely a boyscout knife?
Would it be of any value if it were restored?
Thank you for your help.

Could have been bought mail order or in any gun or sporting goods store including any number of department stores. Very doubtful it was military issue.

Value if proper cleaned up would be around $25- 30...maybe...

Yes, there were BSA versions, but it could have literally been bought anywhere. No, it wasn't issue.

Don't use any power tools or abrasive papers on it. Stick with soaking the blade in penetrating oil, not the leather, and applying a lot of elbow grease with a copper scrub pad. Dremels, grinders, even sand paper will wreck it.

Oh, and the only strong "chemical" to use is elbow grease! ;)

Tooth brush and oil after the soak.

Terry cloth and oil after the tooth brush.

Tooth brush again with oil.

Oil rinse to remove the last of the loosened particle of rust.

Substitute brass brush for recalcitrant corrosion.

Avoid getting any on the leather, but give it a good triple wipedown with saddle soap and then wipe with Balistol, Netsfoot or even clear shoe polish. Don't soak or over wet the leather to avoid making it soft.
