I need to identify and value this old shotguns, any help will be appreciated.

1- Double barrel SxS, external hammers, .410 ga. Marked:
CAL. 410 EIBAR-1918-MGA 36XXX AAA-MANUFACTURAS DE ARMAS, Good Condition

2- Double barrel SxS, hammerles, 12 Ga. Marked:
ACIER BAYARD, Good condition.

Thanks in advance for your information. Regards from México.

Some pictures would really help for these, but the markings show that the first is from Spain, while the second is from Belgium. If you take the barrels off, there should be a series of stamps that will give more information.

Picture of the pieper bayard

Last weekend that I have some free time, I clean the pieper bayard shotgun and find some clues:

1- It´s 16 Ga. not 12
2- It´s a Pieper Bayard with case colored receiver.
3- The barrel is marked POUR POUDRES VIVES, ¿It´s safe with modern standard velocity shells?
4- It seems to be good made and the quality of the materials also looks fine.
5- It´s marked with some proof marks that not make sence with a reference guide I found. It carry the mark for "DEFINITIVE BLACK POWDER PROOF" but also has another for " VIEW STAMP AND INSPECTORS MARK FOR PARABELLUM PISTOLS" and another for "NITRO PROOF FOR RIFLED BARREL AND PARABELLUM PISTOLS" maybe my reference is incomplete.

WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THE QUALITY AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS SHOTGUN, AND IF I CAN USE IT FOR QUAIL HUNTING.

REGARDS FROM PUEBLA MEXICO.

Peiper made little junk, but chances are this one is chambered for 2 1/2" shells and not our present 2 3/4" ammo. A trip to Mr Gunsmith is mandatory. He/she should check it to see if it can be fired safely.

If so, and it fits you, it should work for quail nicely. Chokes may be tight.

HTH....

2 3/4 Chambers

The Chambers Are 2 3/4", The Balance And Fit Of The Shotgun Are Very Nice. As You Said It´s Chokes Are Maybe Full And Light Full Or Improved Mod.

Unfortunatelly Here We Don´t Have Good Gunsmiths. The Bores Look Good They Have No Pitting And The Marks Seems To Prove Them Adecuatte For Smokless Powder.

Here Is A Picture Of The Whole Shotgun.

shotgun

The 410 was made in EIBAR SPAIN probably by one of the Sarasqueta family, J.J , Victor, or Felix.. My books dont list but one 410 for them .

Pretty good quality guns, not all that expensive though..
