1920's vintage S&W Military & Police. The s/n, ejector rod and grips all put it in that decade though I can't be more precise. Seems like it's had a barrel change if the barrel s/n and frame s/n do not match, though probably contemporary given the numbers. Check the s/n on the cylinder, too - if in that similar range then it also indicates it's heat treated and safer to shoot than prior production.

Hard to judge the actual condition from those pictures, but it might be a nice one.

Thanks Oro

I will check the other numbers.

This gun is in good shape, just a bit of wear and tear but overall good shape.

ballpark, whats something like this worth?

Thanks again

It's very hard to say without several big, clear pictures from all angles, but it helps that it has the correct grips. If it's got a nice original finish or good factory refinish (given the probable barrel replacement), then let's say $200 to $300 probably. They made quite literally millions of these guns from 1899 until now (still in production). Really mint, as-new ones fetch only about $500.

These guns are usually outstanding shooters with target .38 ammo. Great accuracy and a smooth action.

Actually it's a model 10's grandfather.

To be more specific it's a .38 Military & Police/1905 Hand Ejector, 4th Change. They were made between 1915 and 1942 within a serial number range running from about 241,704 to 999,999. Your revolver was made around 1924.

The serial number was stamped on (A) the butt, (B) the back of the cylinder, (C) on the bottom of the barrel, and (D) inside the stocks. These numbers should match, but ignore the "B" on the barrel.

thanks,
just checked all numbers do match, they were just hard to read.
