I purchased this stock on ebay a few months ago. I purchased it for my saiga. The gentleman told me that it was a direct take off from a saiga that was imported with a thumbhole stock. I'm not sure if this is true or not. Here are some photos. Any help identifying would be awesome. Thanks guys.

Yeah... I was thinking maadi as well. It's not quite as blonde as the MAK stocks that I have. It's actually a good looking stock. Any way I could actually use this on my saiga? Any thoughts?

It won't be a direct replacement for a Saiga if the trigger is still in the "sporterized" position. That stock was meant to go on a rifle that had the trigger directly behind the magazine which is farther forward than on an unconverted Saiga.

So what would the fitment issues be? I am assuming that some new holes would need to be drilled in the wood at some point? Would that be it?

I don't think you need to drill any holes in the wood. If I remember correctly the SA-85 stocks were direct swaps for a normal stock and pistol grip set up. As long as your trigger isn't in the way it should bolt right on.

I am certain that it is a SA-85 stock. I agree with the above member about the Romak stocks. Everyone I have seen has been cut out.

To ROB:

My trigger group has not been moved forward. I am assuming that this will cause an issue with bolting the stock. Any way to remedy this other than moving the trigger group forward? I use the saiga for hunting with low capacity magazines but I love thumbhole stocks.

Yeah, big issues. If you look at this link:

You'll see how the stock is supposed to attach to the rifle. Unfortunately your trigger is in the way.

Now that I'm aware of. I don't think anybody's ever made a thumbhole stock for an AK that works on an unconverted Saiga.

Just a thought for you: Moving the trigger isn't really that hard and the only real downside is losing the BHO feature. However it would allow you to use the thumbhole stock and as long as you're still using low-cap magazines you wouldn't have to worry about 922r compliance.
