Hi,
I have a Remington 870 Police Magnum 12 Gauge that I use for home defense in my small one bedroom apartment. I just ordered the Pachmayr Vindicator pistol grip and forend to replace the wood. There are two different tools for sale on Brownell's website and I need help picking the right one. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT I DO NOT WANT TO DAMAGE THE FACTORY WOOD PIECES SO THAT I CAN PUT THEM BACK ON WHEN I BUY A HOUSE ONE DAY. Here are the links:

Mark III tool: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=8873&title=MARK III FOREND WRENCH

Remington tool: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/st...?p=968&title=REMINGTON/MOSSBERG FOREND WRENCH

Can you guys help me out?

Thanks!!

PS: I know the disadvantages of using a pistol grip, but in my relatively small living environment the long wooden stock is a liability.

Having been involved once in doing it the " hard way" on a friends 870. I milled him a spanner from a piece of plumbing pipe. My machinist eyes likes the looks of the Mark III. It also appears to be more versatile too. :)

I've been using a Mark III for several years now. I really like it, particularly the fact that it lets you get proper alignment on the forearm so it doesn't rub on the barrel.

Proper technique will let you keep the full stock in place without losing any effectiveness, however... no need for a PGO- really. For basics see Louis Awerbuck's Combat Shotgun video.

Thanks for the help so far. The concensus seems to be for the Mark III. I guess I'll order that one unless somebody else has anything to add.

Thanks again!!
