OK... So, I'm picky.

I mostly know what I want, but I still need more advice.

I want a DA/SA .22 with a 3-4" barrel that is accurate *and* reliable. It also needs to come with a silver slide or at least white dots or something so it can be seen with only a little bit of light (I might have to give this part up, but it's *really* gonna piss me off to have a black slide with black sights or some "fiber optic" sight).

Oh yea, and it needs to be under $450!

Any gun that is similar to in dimensions, reliability, and accuracy... and is better than a Bersa Firestorm. I dunno if too many options exist besides the Bernardelli P6 or P8, which I doubt I'd realistically be able to get parts for. I'd actually be super impressed if somebody could tell me the differences between the Bersa Firestorm, Bersa Thunder, & the Bersa 644.

Also... Do you guys think it would be crazy to spend $375 (after S&H and FFL fees) for a Firestorm?? ... or to spend $450 for a Bersa Thunder? And what would a Bersa 644 go for anyway? It might be the diamond in the rough for all I know.

I'm almost feeling desperate for this gun, but if there's something that shoots better and is about as reliable for less money.... then lemme know!! I don't wanna get too trigger happy, but I'm cocking the hammer as we speak. ;)

Used Ruger Mark III Hunter with 4.5" barrel - Best .22 on the market!

Just because I am sick and tired of the endless "what .22 to buy?" threads ... Get the NAA Pug in .22mag with a LR conversion cylinder

No Ruger Mark 2s or Mark 3s. They don't make them with 3-4" barrels, do they? Plus, I said no fiber optic sights!

And I'm not sure the NAA minis come in 3-4" barrels either.

Any other choices for my price range??

I can only think of Beretta Cheetah 84/85/87 (which I don't really understand the differences about), which are going to be out of my price range anyway.

And I'm just not too fond of the Walther P22 for a few reasons, like the polymer grip and size, but if the Walther P22 @ $350 is a better deal than a Bersa Thunder .22 @ $420... I guess it is my last hope.

Well if you want to spend the money - get a Cheetah. The .22 model is the 87, the 84/85 models are for the .380 round (I think the 84 is single stack, 85 is double stack .380).

Yeah the 87 are pricier than other .22 pistols, but beautifly made with nice wood grips, accurate and rock solid dependable. I can't think of any problems I've had with mine, but it seems to like the higher velocity rounds like the Super Max or Stinger. I'm going to test a batch of Interceptors out on it next week when a case I ordered comes in.

So, my choices are:

- Bersa Thunder
- Bersa Firestorm
- Bersa 644 (don't know *anything* about this gun)
- Walther P22 (bleh)
- Beretta Cheetah 87 ($$$)

Some people like these....

4.5" Barrel at it is nitron but DA/SA accurate and people say it is reliable.

I thought about the Walther and the Mosquito. Both are glorified airsoft pistols. They fit the bill except they are not quiet what I would call accurate.

I have a p-22 with nickel slide many rounds thru it with minimal problems even shooting in the winter in NH.I also own a S&W 22a,but I think the p-22 is a better weapon. As far as report being loud, all the better to scare away bad guys..................

I can't find the Sig P228 in .22, and I've heard definitely don't consider the Mosquito and that the Walther P-22 is bottom of the line, but I've read a couple bad things about the Walther, and I really don't remember reading one bad comment about the Bersa...

Soo, if anybody could help me out with the differences between the Bersa Thunder, Bersa Firestorm, and Bersa 644... that'd be awesome!! I know one of those is better than the rest, but I really can't find any info on the 644 at all.

If anybody can find some hard facts on the Bersa 644, I'll give you 1 Billion Internet Points. ;)

ALSO... If the Thunder has adjustable sights and the Firestorm doesn't... is that worth paying an extra $50~75 for?

What does one of those older Sig trailsides go for? My friend has one and I LOVE it.

So it might be be exactly what you want but I have a Sig Mosquito that I love. Its been very reliable for me. I know the older ones had issues but the newer ones seem to have worked out the kinks.

How bout the CZ Kadet? All steel, great sights, accurate, super reliable, and if you can find a 9mm slide and barrel for sale somewhere you can have it both ways. Great gun.

Yea, but it's too expensive. The CZs and the Beretta Cheetahs are great guns, I'm sure... but they're outta my price range. I *could* by the CZ Kadet .22 conversion kit alone for about $400, tho!!

How about a Buck Mark Micro Camper in stainless. 4" bbl., stainless slide and bbl. No fiber optic sights. Affordable.
This will prolly be my backup option. I think I'd rather have this than the P-22. I'm not a huge fan of polymer handles because of the uneven weight distribution, but I have yet to actually hold the P-22 in my hand yet.

Think my list is pretty set at...
- Bersa Firestorm
- Bersa Thunder
- Browning Buck Mark Micro (even micro is a lil' big, but i'd prolly take it over the P-22)
- Walther P-22 (as last resort)

I cannot find a Buck Mark Micro Hunter online, but I saw a pic of a Micro Stainless URX, which was getting VERY close to my spending limit.
