Gentlemen, I am looking for an online retailer to buy an Mtech twist from, but although I have found a few by google, I don't know which outfits to trust. You who have been there before can greatly benefit me with your advice on trusted sources.

Thank you.

I looked for one a couple months ago, to experiment with. I couldn't find any available at a reasonable price. I gave up.

I wouldn't have any reservations ordering online if using a credit card. You have ample recourse if defrauded.

Bladeplay has a lot of flippers. ;)

Most of the online cutlery dealers are trustworthy. I would be concerned if you buy via Ebay. Things have gone down hill on Ebay and I seldom even look at their auctions any more. Too many fakes in general.

Quality

I can't remember where it was, but I recently read an opinion by someone familiar with knives, knife materials, and knife applications, to the effect that, for a knife of this general class, quality doesn't really start until you get above $50, and more often above $100.

I've handled a few of this type, and I'm generally inclined to agree.

It's not that I personally feel that a quality piece of this kind ought to cost $100 or more, but it seems that something about either the workmanship required for that quality point or the demand from fans of the type that pushes it up into that range.

Consequently, if I were shopping for something of that size and shape and general form, I would probably feel "there's a catch" if the price didn't at least reach $75 or so.

I'm not the guy to ask, though.

CDR_Glock or hso, on the other hand, could probably give you a detailed rundown on what goes into a quality piece.

I donno, if you're smart about it and have an idea as to what you want and how much it retails for then you should be in the clear. 100% feedback over 500 transactions? Sure why not. Some of my best knife deals have been through ebay. I still can't believe I snagged a NIB Spyderco Tasman Salt for $38 after shipping. Sometimes you'll find a nice seller who will throw in an extra knife or two just to be nice. (they're usually real cheapo) I actually dig my frost cutlery green beret knife I got in one of my deals. (http://www.amazon.com/Frost-Cutlery-Green-Beret-Folder/dp/B001DL14QO) Handle is the cheapest plastic, but it feels solid in my hand and the lockup on mine is superb. (Holds a real nice edge for longer than you'd expect; serrations came real sharp too)
