Looking for some ranges in this area. I don't know of any, I was shooting on some public land, but some drunk teenagers ruined it for all and now it's illegal to shoot there.
The one at Loiusville shoots down a hill--forcing you to stand up at the bench---not good.
That said---I usually do my plinking on state land--be sure to pick up your mess----and go to South Dakota for formal range time where my buddy has his own range on his land up there. He's got it up to 800 yds now.
I guess perspective is everything. Being a member at Weeping Water and having been a guest at Eastern Nebraska Gun Club I would say ENGC is better. 600 yard range and target pit, much better for matches than Weeping Water.
I am a member of the ENGC and don't even come close to having to stand to shoot from the benches. I can't speak for Weeping Water as I've never been. As was stated earlier, if you join up or go as a guest to the ENGC you'll find there are three main ranges.....the main range goes from 50-600 yds (with 50-100-150-200-300-450-550-600 yds) ... the next range goes from 50-300 yds (with 50-100-200-300 yds) and then the 100 yd range (with 50-100 yds). All those ranges have overhead cover. There is also a trap range, and then the multiple pistol bays (with one of those having overhead cover). It is about a 30 minute drive south of Omaha, just outside of Louisville. http://www.engc.us will take you to the website and you can see an overhead view of the range....(overhead shows an incomplete 300 yd range with bulldozers and dirt, that is now finished)....
There really aren't that many places to go, which stinks. I do pistol and rifles, so I'm looking for a range that allows for both. I don't take just one firearm along, so that's a big issue there. My dad went to the bullethole once, and I guess you can shoot rifles there, too.
