Help me pick my Saiga!

I had a 16" saiga in 7.62. I got rid of it. Someone here mentioned that theirs had light recoil. Mine did not. At least not with silver bear hollowpoints. That was frickin nasty. All out of proportion for the power it brought to the party. Plus there is the fact that it is an AK action. Yes I know thats why everyone wants one. That's why I wanted one. Until I played with it and shot it. That safety is a PITA and the lack of a last shot hold open is something you really notice if you're used to it. And its got sharp edges everywhere.

Anyhoo, please try one before you buy it. I read about them for a long time and all reports were great so I grabbed one when the opportunity arose. But if I had only shot one first I would have realized my sks is all I need in that caliber.

Personally I have enjoyed shooting my saiga far more than bowstreetrunner's SKS back when he had it up here in Missouri with me. Last time we talked it was about how best to get rid of his SKS and get him a saiga in 7.62x39. So I'm going to think it's just a personal preference. In any case I'd back up your advice to try and shoot one before buying. But as far as I'm concerned I'd rather have a Saiga than a SKS.
