Help me pick some gear for my M&P 45

I just picked up an M&P .45 for a great price, and was wondering if I should upgrade to night sights (which ones) or a Crimson Trace grip, or both?

Need to grab a holster or two also, one IWB, one out. Any advice?

I consider night sights a must have for carry. Check out Hienie straight 8 sights, or Warren tactical. I prefer the two verticle dot lineup for sights rather than the traditional three dot. Some prefer a tritium front only. Or XS sights.

A Crimson Trace grip is certainly not a bad addition. Every tool in the toolbox helps. They are a bit expensive for my means, though.

Can't advise on the holster as there are several great makers out there.

www.kytac.com makes a great IWB holster for that gun, along with mag pouches.

The Crimson Trace would be a snazzy addition, also.

I am very partial to the CompTac Minotaur holsters - very comfortable and can be had in either IWB or OWB styles. For an OWB/paddle that is stable and can be easily removed, I use the basic CompTac paddle.

The XS BigDot night sights are very nice. I usually will pair a large front night sight (or front blade with a brass/gold bead) with a plain flat rear blade with an enlarged notch.

Thanks guys. I am leaning towards either the Trijicon or Meprolight sights. Was wondering if it would be overkill to have both Night Sights and the laser.

Those Minotaur holsters are sweet, that iis exactly what I was looking for, thanks. I think they offer a law enforcement discount as well.

take your pick they are all good to go.

as far as aftermarket sights, yes the xs 24/7 big dot night sights are imho the best sights on the market for defensive use.
between meprolight and trijicon, i prefer trijicon, as far as a laser i have no need or desire to have a laser on a handgun, other than for the use during dry for practice, and that will never be a crimson trace it will be on a removable light/ laser combo like an m6.

Not overkill.

Remember that in a fight, the odds are already stacked against you. Anything you can bring to the table, from training/software to hardware, may help you.

Crimson Trace lasergrips are excellent products. I just don't have the money to put a set )or any quality laser) on my Glock.

Thanks. I have seen several on Ebay for my M&P in the 200 to 250 range. Not too bad.

It was in the back of my mind when I picked out the M&P, but didnt know if I should do both or not. I probably will.

Food for thought - that $250 used to offset a good training class and some ammo would be a more efficient use of that money than a set of laser grips.

That is a great thought. No piece of equipment is any good without proper training.
