I've caught the bug hard and need some help. I just bought my first handgun a Kimber TLE II that I'm in love with. 400 rounds with only 1 malfunction and great accuracy and feel but I want more:D

I'm looking at a 9mm and a snub. But am not sure which order I would like to get them.

9mm: I've shot a couple mags through a Glock and a Sig and wasn't overly impressed which is why got the Kimber. However ammo is so cheap and my girlfirend decided she liked shooting today so it seems like a good idea. I'm looking at BHP and CZ75 because I feel they are closest to the 1911 platform. This will probably be a range gun unless I like it more than the Kimber. Main concern here is Kerry getting elected and bye-bye standard mags.

Snub: Looking at a 642. This will be a serious gun serving as a BUG and light carry piece. I'm not concerned about it getting banned seems pretty PC to me. Thought on getting it first would be more range time with a serious gun. However I probably won't have my liscense until Dec. and won't need a small gun exclusivley until atleast May.

I'm also hording cash for top of the line EBR in case of Kerry wins. :shudder: but that won't affect this.

So what order would you guys go. Would you buy the snub first or the full size 9mm? I've kinda laid out my thought so you can see what I'm thinking .

Thanks

Have you tried one of the 9mm 1911's? I've only shot the Springfield but was pleasantly surprised. Of the options you've provided, I like the BHP.
In a snubby, I like the 640 but the 642 seems like a good choice.

I have not tried the 9mm 1911. I have thought about it but am wrestling with the idea of a nonstandard round. Kinda like the cz75 or bhp in .40 it just don't seem right.

But would you buy the range 9mm first or the light carry 642? I have a Kimber I plan on primary carry with.

If the Kimber is your primary CCW, go with the Browning for range
use. I don't think S&W will raise the price to dealers on the little
642 anytime soon? Of course, that depends on what Taurus does
with their Ti's and etc; as I would expect S&W to follow suit.

If your girl likes shooting then you should also consider adding a .22...possibly before a 9. I've found new female shooters like the .22 then work up to shooting and liking 9.

You need a .22 in the collection anyways...it's the law :p

The 22 law is true an shall be obeyed but I kinda think she likes the umph of a bigger round. My 45 was her first handgun to shoot and she loved it keeping all rounds nice and tight COM.

I think a full size CZ along with a cadet 22 conversion is what might answer many needs for you and your girl...

I like your Kimber. I think a good companion 9mm would be the BHP, although the CZ S/A would be a good choice also. I have a CZ DA/SA in .40 that I could recommend also.

I love my SIG P226 in 9mm just a great gun or you can get it in .40 or .357 and get a 9mm barrel for it and have 3 guns in 1 you can do the same with a few SIGs

Get the 642.

You'll be surprised with the accuracy, and you won't spend extra money on a dozen magazines. You know you want it, as opposed to an as yet undetermined 9mm. Give yourself more time to explore 9mm options, while getting the experience you need with your 642 now.

I recommend the 642 for pocket carry.

As to a Hi Power, you can pick up an Arcus Model 94, which is a Hungarian? made clone of the Hi Power with mostly corresponding accessories (uses BHP mags and grips and stuff) the slide is a bit more square but otherwise, the same gun....... but for $300 instead of $600. For a range 9mm or even a carry gun, these work well and shoot great. And it works the same as your 1911.

I'm still debating. Its really tempting to buy both at once and be done with it but I may get killed for buying one let alone 2. Also I can save one for a bad week or something as a pick me up. Anways thanks for the input. I'm still torn tween the CZ and the HP.
