alright with the end of the deployment in the near future i want to go ahead and figure out what i am gonna spend my money on. i really just want to add to my collection, there is no real nich that the gun will fill but will be shot at the range, and just to have because "i can". i have already a bushmaster ar 5.56/ .223, mak-90 ak, remington 870, 2 xd's, a kahr k40, a ruger p345 and a sa mc operator. I can buy one of the bellow and accesories but buying all of them or ore than one is out of the question right now the army dosen't pay that good:) so the things that i am looking at are the following.

Sig 556
they are ugly but they take ar mags they are accurate and reliable, and piston operated. i have been wanting a gas operated rifle to try out for myself.

FN PS 90 Tri-Rail
small compact long gun that has 50 rd capacity and no recoil to speak of what more has to be said. i am looking at the tri rail version as the stock sight i feel is lacking i will be putting a c more, or other red dot.

Ruger Mini 6.8
i have always wanted a mini, but with the new 6.8 offering i think that would make a great shooter all around, and this would allow me to check out the 6.8 for myself.

M1A Scout
again another gun that i have always wanted, and the scout is my favorite of the bunch for the range and the short ranges that i am able to shoot at, ie 200 meters and less.

Glock 19 with a Can
yeah i know this isn't a rifle but it is one that i am looking at too. another one of those i want one because i can deal. i think this would make a versitile and effective package.

or

Mark 2 Amphibian
nothing like a good .22 and although i already have a mark 2 an intregally silenced pistol would be awesome, and it would score alot of "cool" points!

Precision Bolt Rilfe
though i have most of the bases covered in my collection i am missing a precision bolt gun. so that is always a possibility too.

Buy an M1 Garand from the Civilian Marksmanship Program. If you're not a member of an affiliated club or marksmanship program, you can use your military ID to qualify to purchase a rifle.

You need an American .30 cal :)

Prices are $500 for a "Field Grade" and close to $1,000 for a near-new M1.

Thank you for your service. Now I would get the one you are most likely be able to feed. M1A is lookin mighty strong as well as G19 W/ can. The rifle wont mean much if it never sees the light of day cause it is too expensive to feed.
I also second the idea of a shooter that you can compete with. You will have alot more fun with something you can use and you may even get your command to sponsor you.

G19 with a Can.

I have the threaded after market barrel, but no can so I can live vicariously through you.

thanks for all the replies so far guys, i want everyone to chime in!

as for the service you are all welcome i am glad to serve for such fine American citizens.
PBR with a can!
that would be sweet!

I would also like to add a heartfelt thanks for your service.

I would think since a good bolt gun is missing from your collection one is needed. I would say a nice heavy barrel .308 would fit nicely in your collection.

I have some news for you about that Bushmaster you own.

Also, I'd recommend putting the max you can afford into a Roth IRA for the year, if you haven't done that yet.

I own both a PS90 (short-barreled) and a USG 5.7 pistol, and I love them both. That said, if you already have a Bushmaster rifle, you have a fairly compact rifle with more power.

I'd say, Glock 19 with Evo-9 silencer from AAC. You'd get the most fun out of it. My second choice is the Amphibian, as .22lr is cheaper and it'll be Hollywood quiet. However, it would be mainly a range toy or squirrel gun - 9mm has power the .22lr lacks.

Well, Bushmaster's making a gas piston conversion kit for the ARs. It replaces the gas tube and bolt carrier and is $400. I'd get that and the Glock.

So many good choices. I can only tell you what I wouldnt get, I would probably not pick up a 6.8 mini, or a precision rifle. I just feel like personally they wouldn't work for me. A silenced 22 would be pretty darn cool, but once again it just doesn't fit for me. I CAN see myself considering a sig 556, DEFINATELY a suppressed glock, a PS90 could definately be cool, and of course the M1a Scout. these are just my choices, but If I had to narrow it down I would say get the glock, and your choice of either the 556 or PS90.

I say save that money and just buy some ammo but thats just me. I was always the spolier on the ship that wouldn't brag about buying a new car when they got off the ship.

I voted for the bolt rifle. If it's the one thing that you don't have yet...well, it's a natural for rounding out the collection.

As others have said, thank you so much for your service. It is because of people like you that guys like us have forums where we can say what we want and when we want to. You have kept us free and for that, I am truly appreciative.

Don't bother putting it in the bank. With the rate of inflation you are better off with the M1A. It will never decrease in value, only increase.

Possum,
as the owner of a Mini-30, I voted for precision bolt gun. If the 6.8 SPC is your round of choice, Remington has a couple of bolt offerings in that round. Looks like a heck of a deer round to boot.

Unless, of course the only money that you're looking to spend is your Per Deum... I think mine was around 1300 for my last dep, I'd just go ahead and spend it on beer.

Put it into a savings account.>>

+1

You put alot into earning this money. I would say you more than deserve it.

The wisest thing you can do is to put it away for your future use.

Thank you for your service, and be safe.
