I been reading a lot about 'SHTF" situation, which I have never been involved in. Which probably is a great thing.

So I been thinking: What can I store, what can I run with when the SHTF come;s along?

Minus guns, lets talk grub.
I know MRE's are always / probably the best solution, but I don't have $70.00 to fork up for 12 yummy meals.

So, how about can or box/plastic seal food products?

I like to store about 50-gallons of YUMMY for my tummy when or if the SHTF comes.

Anyone have any suggestions on what else to store are for food that is not MRE's?

Thanks

Do it the easy way...

Go to the grocery store, and buy what you like to eat, only make sure you fill up the cart with stuff that doesn't require refrigeration. Canned stuff is good. Jars of stuff are good. Ice cream is bad.

Yawn.

Like bogie said, the easiest solution is to simply by extra portions of what you eat anyway. Doing so makes stock rotation easier, and doesn't leave you dealing with a huge shift in diet along with everything else in a SHTF situation. It's also fairly painless financially if you just get in the habit of 'use one, buy two'. Over a bit of time, you end up with a solid stash of canned goods.
