I naver had a scoped rifle before and had always assumed that all rifle uses the same dovetail for scope rings.

Having owned CZ 452 and CZ 527 for a while now I realize it is not all the same. How many different types are out there? Do all manufacturers have they own standard? What are 1913, Weaver and Tip-Off mounts?

The CZ's are metric dovetails, I believe 11mm if memory serves me correct. Most US .22's with dovetails are 3/8". Some say you can use 3/8 on 11mm. None of the others are refered to as dovetails, just mounts. Weaver bases are probably most common as well as picatiny rails (basically long multi slotted weavers). Ruger has proprietary machined groves. Leupold has twist lock...variety is endless.

The original receiver dovetail was the 3/8" Weaver Tip-Off. 9.5 millimeters in French.
Most but not all European .22s have 11mm dovetails.

These straight longitudinal dovetails don't work very well with centerfires with some recoil, so what you see on your CZs is largely for .22s.

Other integral receiver dovetails are proprietary.
The first I ever saw was a Sako, then a BSA.
Ruger is the most common now.
There are some Brnos with their own cut, also Krico.
Tikka, even though made in Finland and now under the same umbrella organization as Sako, has its own dovetail design.
There are some alleged Dumolin Mauser actions being imported with a dovetail of their own. The only scope mounts for it are nearly as expensive as the receiver, so most buyers are just drilling and tapping for some common base.
