So i'm trying to buy a used Ruger GP100 (never bought used before) and need a bit of help as far deciphering what exactly entails a revolver being a certain %.

Now if something is listed at 99% it's pretty simple to imagine the it'd just been fired a couple times or something similar.

However what exactly would a ruger in the 88-90% condition mean? Is that considered heavy use? What kind of things should one not be surprised to see in a revolver listed in that condition? Is the wear from that type of condition cosmetic only or would there be things that i'd need to start worrying about getting fixed soon after I bought it (like buying a car with 150k miles on it).

I'm looking for a shooter...a gun that I can put a ton of rounds through and then pass on a nice working revolver onto my future kids/grandkids. Just need a bit of insight on how much "service life" a GP100 would have and if it's worth getting the savings in buying a gun at this condition if I don't really care if it looks a bit worn.
