Which of these two revolvers would you choose as an all around handgun for Hard use, with not a lot of upkeep, etc, etc, ? A Ruger Stainless Blackhawk in 357 mag or a Ruger GP100, also in 357. Which will hold-up under hard use conditions with out breaking? Just want your opinions thanks!!! :)

By hard use what in God's name are you planning. The GP100 is nigh indestructible and the Blackhawk is even more so. Barring doing anything stupid either in stainless steel should treat you just fine.

All around use...CCW? GP-100

For everything else but CCW Blackhawk:evil:

If you look at reloading books, I think that they have a "Ruger Blackhawk Only" section.

Good luck.

Generally only in the .45 Colt sections. All other calibers normally only have one listing, applicable to ALL firearms of that caliber.

As for which to get, pick the one that feels best to you. I prefer the double action of the GP-100, and feel that unless you get one of the Anniversary Blackhawks, New Vaqueros or an old model Blackhawk, the single-action is much, much too big for a .357. But that's just my opinion.

either revolver will outlast you even with hard use, provided you clean it occasionally.

for defensive use, i'd go for the GP100. with practice, you can shoot a single action revolver as fast as a double action, but reloading is much slower.

for hunting or range shooting, the blackhawk. it seems to be slightly more accurate with the same barrel length than the GP.
