HELP! My AK has 2 Triggers!

Well it's not all semi-auto AKs; my Arsenals, and I'm willing to bet any rifle with an Arsenal FCG, do not have this issue. The safety doesn't touch the disconnector.

However, my SAR-2 (crappy Century FCG) and Saiga 12 (G2 FCG) do have the safety contacting the disconnector. The Saiga can not fire because the BHO won't allow the safety to pivet far enough but I see the potential. The SAR-2 won't fire as the safety doesn't move the trigger far enough forward BUT it's close. The only comfort I can take is the safety has to move well beyond the dust cover to have this happen, it's all the more reason to ditch the Century FCG.

I never checked my CAI Tantal with the G2 as I didn't keep it, it had other issues.

your safty simply needs the engagement blade trimmed OR the back of the disconector needs to be filed lower its not a major issue at all and can occur on any semi auto with an AK FCG, the blade of the safty is hitting the back of the disconector pushing it forward when it goes forward it releases the trigger hooks from the hammer, the best fix is as described by Ben above, the only part of the selectors safty blade that needs to be in contact is that portion which presses down on the right (with muzzle pointed away) side trigger leg everything to the left can be filed back enough that it does not contact the disconector when flipped upward......

DO NOT drill any holes or add any hoaky bolts or rivets etc... likewaise do not bend the selector it is hardened steel and can snap off a replacement yugo selector IF they are still available is around $20 if ya damage the one ya have........ so its alot better to just fix it correctly than any jerry rigging......

This "design flaw" is present on all semi-auto AK's. It's not a Century problem, no matter how some people on here continually bash them, and it's not really a flaw in the first place.
My Century built WASR doent have this problem so it certainly doesnt happen on all semi-auto AK's, as evidenced with mine, and others who have said thiers doesnt do it also. Sounds more like something that can easily happen on most semi ak's, but doesnt happen on all.

Also, I wasnt bashing Century, as I love my WASR, I was just taking the cahnce to make a funny variation on the "drunken monkey" joke whenever an issue comes up with a Century built gun. Note the smiley emoticon to denote humor.;)

also, call it what you will, but IMHO, if a gun fires unexpectedly when I am not only not touching the trigger, but am not touching it and am engaginging the SAFETY, I call that a flaw, as it causes the gun to fire unexpectedly, without touching the trigger, and could get someone hurt, or worse.Sounds like bad mojo to me, and something that needs to be corrected, either by the dealer, manufacturer, of by doing it yourself as mentioned by following dstorm1911's instructions. Either way, a safety is supposed to keep the gun from firing, not fire it, and its a potentially dangerous issue if it happens to someone who doesnt know about the problem.

Doesnt matter to me if the issue is a design flaw, fluke/flaw due to the conversion from full to semi (which is really still a design flaw then, as there is clearly a way to prevent this), or is due to a manufacturer not correcting a known issue, or screwing something up and causing an issue. It's still an issue that could cause an unknowing owner/operator some serious problems.

YMMV

Lots of great info, thanks everyone for commenting. Also welcome to Ben!
