Help, my new holster is as stiff as a board!

I picked up a surplus (new) USGI M7 holster. I really like the concept of it, but it is so stiff that I cannot get a handgun into it, no kidding! I got some neatsfoot oil to soften it up but I am not exactly sure how to use it. Do I just put it on and let it soak in and then repeat? Or do I continually "rub" it into the leather?

I have to ask the obvious question... You are trying to fit a 1911 govt into it right?

Yes, 1911. However, Beretta 92's are supposed to fit as well (I was thinking about getting one) and there is no way that I can see it fitting.
