Help my xds is jammed with a round in the chamber

I always inspect WWB before use. I've seen several rounds (out of a couple thousand) with a damaged case mouth that if driven into the chamber by the slide would have been wedged tight.

Someone mentioned earlier about the grip safety. Make sure grip safety is depressed before trying to drive back the slide.

Clearly you've never handled an XD-S. The grip safety has NOTHING to do with the slide.

Interesting. How & why is it different from the fullsize xD series?

I don't know why the XD and XD-S are different but they are. Page 17 of the XD manual states "Grip safety must also be depressed to allow slide to be pulled to the rear." Page 14 in the XD-S manual discusses the grip safety but makes no mention of the need to depress the grip safety in order to pull the slide back. I don't have an XD but I do have an XD-S and I can pull the slide back without depressing the grip safety. The XD has a striker status indicator whereas the XD-S doesn't so there are other differences. The XD-S isn't simply a scaled down XD.

I really need to see one sometime. I don't much cotton to compacts, but I'm still willing to be persuaded! :)

My XDs will cycle the slide without the grip safety depressed. Maybe they are trying to tell you to get a firm grip while trying to rack the slide.

Correct. You can press check the XDs pistol without depressing the grip safety. Doing so is clumsy to say the least, but it can be done.

That being said, the XDs is just not a smaller version of the XD family. The fire control group is fairly different....enough that PRP has no intentions of making a trigger kit for it. In an e-mail from them, they told me it is more so designed like a Glock and they will not be making a trigger kit for it.

Sam1911, if you ever get to Phoenix, give me a shout....we'll go out and I'll let you shoot mine. ;)

And NO .45 Auto...I have NOT had a bad round in 27 years of reloading. Believe it or not. I don't care.

BUT...I have had severall factory loads that were either sort on powder or double charged. Not to mention several that didn't even go "Bang". All of them were Federal, Remington and Winchester manufactured.

Hey arizona98tj
This will get your XDs trigger close.

From PPR

"We have designed this XDS Spring Kit to lower the trigger pull on your XDS and give reliable function of your carry pistol. With this kit properly installed the trigger pull should be between 4.5-5 LBS XDS .45cal Springs out of stock at this time."

I have an XD-S in .45 Auto and I've noticed that it's not easy to eject a live round such as a 230gr JHP or MC, even if it has the correct OAL.
Do you other XD-S owners have problems ejecting rounds?

My XD 45 hasno such problem at all.

I read a post from a member here describing the same thing but haven't bothered to find out if this is widespread. It's not a huge deal, it just makes clearing a loaded pistol a bit more awkward. If I pull back on the slide slowly to do a controlled ejection of a live round, the slide will stop once the case head makes contact with the ejector. I find I have to pull the slide back fairly sharply to eject a round. It could all be related to the extractor which some have found to be very tight.

I assume you mean PRP, not PPR? If so, I've tried it. Directly after installation and on my first range trip, it I immediately started getting random light primer strikes. Never had them before and once I removed the striker spring and installed the original spring, never had them afterwards. Too bad. I have PRP trigger kits in my other 3 XD pistols and was very disappointed to see how poorly this spring kit performed in the XDs, albeit it was only springs and no other FCG replacement hardware.

I broke out the vernier caliper and measured the ejection port on my Colt MkIV Series 70, my XD45c, and the XDs45. The ports grew progressively smaller in the same order I just listed them. The way I see it, the purpose of my XDs45 is to eject empty brass on demand, with each trigger pull. I worry not about it being somewhat of an issue to clear the chamber when I'm getting ready to clean it.

"I assume you mean PRP, not PPR? " > YEP

Over on the XD fourm the post are mostly positive on the PRP spring kit, with a few not so, I had given it some thought, but after reading your post , I will pass.

Learned my lesson too with WWB in my XDm 9mm. Now I check every round as it goes in the mag.
