After a 12 year period of not shooting I am back at the range (Angeles Crest outside Los Angeles) I missed a lot of 2$ shots on the 50 yard row of iron targets with my .500.

Then....guy next to me had me try a rugar 40cal rifle with a RED DOT sight on it....(it was supposedly a really expensive one with a very large diameter tube) I literally started laughing out loud and felt like a had a magic wand and rang all the irons....felt like I COULD NOT MISS....woo hoo! It was not that it was better than a scope, but it was SO FAST and you could just see a large picture through it...

Want to put a red dot type sight on my SW .500 revovler. I saw other types of sights that look like a squair of glass rather than a tube...I dont know the difference or what is the best or what MOA is. The guy at the gun shop was either a jerk or did not know.

$$ is not a problem, but I would not have a beer can size site on my pistol. If I go hunting I will be under 100 yard with the pistol (obviously) and most likely 60yard ish. What it the "best" red dot type optic for a pistol (needs to be tough for .50mag recoil)

Sincere thanks!

Maybe these folks can help you..

Prices are very fair, and they deliver in 10 days.

I can attest to the fact that they glow very bright at night, with what ever light they gathered during the day, for 5 hrs, at the same brightness, as I have seen this in my own sights.

Just make sure you go with Front white/glow-Green sight, as green is the best and easiest color for the eye to see at night.

They offer many different color options, along with styles, heights, etc.

Luck,

Check into a C-more with the small dot or the Nikon VSD it allow 4 different dot sizes and is allot cheaper than an Aimpoint (good but pricey).
Avoid Simmons BSA Tasco Bushnell or other generic bic like sights they will not last on your hand cannon.:cuss:
I wonder if an Eotech would work on that beast of yours they are also very nice.
Good luck on your quest.;)

I think the mount came with the gun

It is a performance center compensated hunter. Ultradot seems like the way to go as I hear it suggested a lot. Hard to sight in? Just like a scope I assume. I wonder if I can accurately sight the ultra dot in with .50 specials and then jump to the mags or if the mags will rise more or if it will even make a difference

Thanks for advice!
