I am looking for a bolt action in either 222/223/22-250. Leaning toward 223 as I already have the equipment to reload it, and I would rarely need a shot at over 300.

I would much prefer wood stock although synthetic would work initially, either blued or stainless, internal magazine, drop plate for magazine would be nice but not mandatory, or a flush removable mag. Fairly lightweight as I will be doing alot of walking with said gun, and it goes without saying that accuracy is a must. Would prefer 1 in 9 twist so I could also shoot heavy bullets.

Now the kicker, can this be had new for under $600 for base rifle? I have called ALL lgs and none have any used rifles in these calibers.
Thanks yall

Savage makes a good bolt action. The finish may not be perfect like some more expensive guns, however the Savage can be made to shoot about as accurate as most others that are higher-priced, IMHO.

It sounds like you are looking for a Savage Model 11. They come with wood or synthetic stocks, either a detachable box magazine or hinged floorplates. Lightweight and accurate plus the new models come with the AccuTrigger. It has a 22" barrel and 1 in 9 twist. Everything you said you want including the under $600 range. Plus you can can get a lot of aftermarket items in you decided to upgrade. There arent to many factory rifles around that you can swap a barrel out on in about 20 mins. It would make a great varmint rig.

Just out of curiosity, have you considered a single shot? You might be able to find a used Ruger No.1 in your price range, and they are very accurate.

If not that, I'd go with a Savage.

308 norma Yes the 11gcns is exactly what I was looking for. Thank You.

Birdog Yes I have considered single shots. I actually really like single shots as it makes you make good shots, but from what i can gather many of the single shots are hit or miss with accuracy and I dnt have the money to spend on something that is less likely to be as accurate. If that makes sense.
