Help on CHL laws in LA (New Orleans)

Dear All-
I am planning a trip to New Orleans. I am a current TX CHL holder, and I have reviewed the LA statutes relating to thier CHL permit, which I understand will be applicable to me. I am left with several questions-
1. What are the "gun free zones" it discussed in the statute text- i.e. if I am strolling within 1000 feet of a school, will I be exposed to criminal sanction, even with a CHL?
2. What is a "class A permit to serve alcohol"- does this mean I am forbidden to carry in any establishment that serves beer or wine (i.e. a restaurant) or only bars?
3. What about traveling in my vehicle- I assume announce my CHL when pulled over, but what about keeping loaded longarms in my vehicle (cased) as well?
4. Are there any New Orleans specific laws I should know about?

1. Yes. But it has to be mapped and marked (R.S. 14:95.6 below) I wouldn't worry about that too much.
D. The local governing authority which has jurisdiction over zoning matters in which each firearm-free zone is located shall publish a map clearly indicating the boundaries of each firearm-free zone in accordance with the specifications in Subsection A. The firearm-free zone map shall be made an official public document and placed with the clerk of court for the parish or parishes in which the firearm-free zone is located.
E. The state superintendent of education, with the approval of the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, and the commissioner of higher education, with the approval of the Board of Regents, shall develop a method by which to mark firearm-free zones, including the use of signs or other markings suitable to the situation. Signs or other markings shall be located in a visible manner on or near each school and on and in each school bus indicating that such area is a firearm-free zone and that such zone extends to one thousand feet from the boundary of school property. The state Department of Education shall assist each approved school with the posting of notice as required in this Subsection.

2. Only places that are 21 and over. If you are in a restaurant that you do not have to be 21 or over to enter, you are fine. If that restaurant has a seperate section that is a 21 and over bar, you can't carry in that portion of it.

3. I could not find any laws that would prohibit carrying of a loaded long gun in a vehicle.

4. I doubt it, state laws have pre-emption so long as there are no local laws that were enacted before the state law. I am guessing on this one.

To add:
3.loaded firearms may be carried openly or in the glove compartment,console box or trunk of vehicle.Loaded long guns may be contained in commercial cases that are located anywhere in the passenger compartment or trunk.
4.Since 1985 LA state preemption law has prevented localities from regulating most aspects of firearm ownership.This includes New Orleans.

hahaha, when i went there a few years back i was amazed at how many places sold beer, the aquarium, the zoo, little stands in the mall. it was like a whole new world coming from alabama
