Well, folks, a buddy of mine just brought over a CZ83 (.380)that he had purchased for $350.00. He bought it from a friend, who has given him a few days to play with it before he has to make a final decision. I think he paid too much;it looks as though it were made in 1995, has the rounded trigger guard, and one of the grips has cracked and someone has attempted to epoxy it together. Does anyone know where to get a new grip, and how much it might cost? It came with (1) 12 round magazine. It has a Hogue wrap around grip on top of the regular CZ grips. The bluing has a lot to be desired, but the barrel looks brand new. The gun was bone dry when I looked at it, and I then took it apart, cleaned and lubed it, and used a cold bluing pencil on it. It looks better now, but what do you think, can he do better? By the time tax was paid, and an FFL fee was applied, can he still do better? Please share your opinions, at your earliest convenience, thanks so much!

CZ 83

Just bought one yesterday...what a great hand gun. I gave $432 with tax, nib, 2 mags, case, cleaning kit. Sure shoots great, right out of the box all the rounds in the red. Sounds like $350 is hight for the condition it's in.

Mine is in 9mm mak and I LOVE it. Its nice and compact, well built and more accurate than it deserves to be. It performs very well under rapid fire and I've got nothing but good things to say about the gun.

One more question, folks, regarding the CZ83. When I attempt to insert the mag, the mag release has to be depressed before the mag will go in. Is this normal? This doesn't happen with my CZ75, nor a CZ70, so I though this was a little unusual. What do you all think?

I'd say pass on this one. In the condition you describe, $350 is way, way too high. I expect $250 would be too much. Factory grips should be available from www.czusa.com. They're listed for $11. Frankly, I've seen NIB CZ83s at shows pretty regularly within the $350-400 range (a recent poster bought one for $425 OTD brand new and the general concensus in that thread is that he paid the upper limit of reasonable). Your buddy can do much better. And his friend isn't doing him any favors. I counsel that he get his money back and find one of these pistols new or continue to look for a good deal used. As far as the mag problem, I never have those problems with factory mags, but it happens quite a bit with aftermarket mags.

I payed $325 for mine in like new condition with the box, manual, and two magazines. Considering the condition, I think it might be overpriced.

My factory mags slip right in on my Cz82 and 83. That doesn't sound normal to me.
