Hi,
I live in the UK and prices for various shooting accessories are crazy compared to US prices. Midway UK charges almost 3 times more for the exact same item on midayusa !! How can that be as they are the same company !!
Anyway, I refuse to pay these prices !
For example, I want to buy a shooting mat from midway which is on sale at $24.99, midwayusa will not ship to UK and the exact same mat is on midwayuk for almost £50 which is approx $100.
I also want to buy some new Lee reloading dies and other bits and pieces, however it is the exact same story regards pricing !!! A complete rip off.
100 x 115gr FMJ 9mm Winchester bullet heads for reloading are $9, however over here they are approx £18 which is roughly $30 !!!
So my question is this, can anyone tell me if they know of a company or individual (for profit) who is willing to ship dies, reloading supplies and other shooting equipment to the UK ?
Items that I want to order and 100% legal and no laws are broken by buying them.
E-mail me if you can assist. [email protected]
Many thanks. Brian. N.Ireland

There is no way you will find a supplier to ship primers, powder, bullets or brass to the UK.
Ammunition components require a State Department export license & for individual amounts, the cost isn't worth it.
Theoretically, dies fall into the same category.
For stuff that IS legal to export, either get in touch with Natchez or Graf.
Carriage charges to the UK are horrendous though, with a 12x12x4 box costing $55.
Add being hit with Import Duty, VAT & handling charges & the savings aren't there.

I operate Plan B & have two or three vacations in the US every year.
Needless to say; I max out my carry on & hold luggage on the return flights & do a LOT of shooting whilst over.

Best UK based supplier I've found is McAvoy Guns in Standish near Wigan.

It would be good to read and understand this: http://www.pmddtc.state.gov/regulations_laws/itar_official.html

And remember that there can be all sorts of ways to run afoul of import/export rules, fees, tariffs, taxes, duties, etc. If anyone can help Brian, great, but it would probably be worth having a lawyer check over your plans to make sure you are complying with all laws on both sides of the puddle.

There is often a REASON that these items cost more in other places. And it isn't because the folks at Midway are all going to retire to the Bahamas on what they're raking in off the good folks in Europe.

Thanks for the replys,
It is completely ILLEGAL to import powder and primers to UK
However brass and bullets is fine.
I have enough brass, primers and powder all I wish to get is a set of Lee dies, winchester bullets, case length gauge and other small
Items.
I recently got crimson trace grips from US and with shipping, and tax they were still £150 ($250 US) cheaper than buying in the UK.
Thanks

Brian try optics warehouse . Com . Find they are one of the cheapest in the uk . Google optics warehouse. welcome to Thr. Regards wj.

The answer is easy!

Pile all you gun stuff into a large trunk. Come to the US on holiday with your trunk. (On the plane, try not to sit next to anyone lighting their underwear on fire.) While here go to the US embassy and apply for asylum since you are being repressed in your country of origin by Midway. This comes under religious persecution because you can't afford your prayer rug (aka shooting mat) which is required in your particular religious activities.

While you wait, you apply to be on Top Shot TV show, win the first place prize, and live happily ever after.

No problem.

UK laws are very restrictive. I thought you have to keep your firearms at the local police station; right?

Anyway, good luck with your quest.

N.Ireland gun laws are quite complex. You need a licence from the police for everything, air rifles, rim fire and centre fire rifles, shotguns and pistols ! You must justify why you want the weapon, i.e pistols u need to be in a gun club, shotguns and rifles for vermin control and you need written permission from a land owner to shoot vermin. Home defence does not exist you would never get a weapon for that reason !! You just can't go into a shop and say " I will have 1 of those please". It can take 6 months to get any weapon and there is no guarantee you will be permitted to posses it.
Basically everything that makes a bang needs a licence.
We do keep the weapons at home in a secure steel cabinet which is inspected by the police. Other parts of the UK are different, they are not allowed pistols at all !!
That's a very rough and quick guide to gun laws in N.Ireland.
So u guys don't know how lucky you are !

Try Midsouth Shooting supplies, Sinclair & DNR Sports I've shipped from them to the UK quite a few times & even with shipping VAT & tarriff it still works out cheaper than buying in the UK provided that the order is for a reasonable amount (value)

Alos at leat in NI you are allowed Handguns where as the rest of us in Mainland UK we can on get long barreled pistols.

Cross the channel into France.
BTW dies et al are cheaper in the UK than in France. I buy my stuff from Midway UK and take it home to france.

Actually, it's not permitted to take newspapers into the Houses of Parliment anymore... they're worried someone could fold it up into a really tight bundle and use it as a bludgeoning tool to beat someone with. I'm not making this stuff up. They won't let you take papers into a lot of football stadiums, either, for the same reason. It's called a 'paper brick', among other things. I kept wondering when they were going to take our shoelaces. I got a bit of undue scrutiny once or twice just for being a very (by English standards, extremely) large man in black leather, until the local PCSOs started recognizing me as American. (apparently, this means i'm SUPPOSED to be scary and slightly mental, like it's just expected).

Whoever has the sig line about freedom not being certified safe, maybe we should all be locked up for our own protection? Europe's already on that.

England has a VAT at currently what? 19% ??

Then there is export duties, import duties, taxes, freight and I am sure your country adds even more costs because these are "gun related"
