I recently traded for an FN Hi Power with the serial number is 245NVxxxxx. All the serial numbers match. The serial number dates the gun at 1995, and the markings show it was manufactured and assembled in Herstal. There is no mention of Portugal, or of Browning.
According to several sources, a Hi Power made in 1995 should have an ambidextrous safety, and a firing pin safety, and should also have Browning markings. Mine doesn't have any of those. The finish is matte, and the safety is the old right hand only style.
Does anyone have any information about importers other than Browning, and/or about models made around 1995 that weren't the MK III configuration?
