Friends, I got a great holster and cartridge slide in the mail today! It's a Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake:

Oh but it's so nice!! :D

One problem though that I've discovered with this holster... I DON'T HAVE THE GUN THAT GOES WITH IT!!!

Now I know what you're thinking, "idiot! and I don't disagree. But hear me out. I was planning to buy a Ruger New Model Blackhawk in .45 Colt w/ .45 ACP conversion cylinder w/ 5.5" barrel, blued (model # 0463), a few weeks ago. So in my haste I went ahead and ordered this beautiful holster and cartridge slide for it, thinking it'd be an easy gun to find.

Not so! Even after several weeks of searching with Gun Broker, Slick Guns, and all over I just cannot seem to find one of these for sale. Guys I am asking a massive favor of you: if anybody out there knows where I can get one of these guns, I'd love to hear about it! I'd prefer new but would be also interested in a used one as well.

Guys please let me know if you've got any leads on a Ruger 0463. They must be between runs or something because they are just not available anywhere I've checked.

Thanks so much all, I appreciate it!!

I will have to call them. But that MSRP price is sky high. Most of the prices I've seen for this gun is in the mid 500's.

Ah yes the old cart before the horse scenario. At least you've got a great holster and cartridge slide to go with your new Blackhawk; when you find one that is. Any gun shows this weekend in your area?

Yes in fact! There is one but an hour away. I will be there bright and early Saturday. Perhaps they'll have one there!

It's really surprising how durable the demand for this firearm has been. What other consumer product has been made for 50 years and still sells out? They really hit the nail on the head with this one.

If you don't want to wait, you might have to relax your requirements. I've had a couple of Blackhawk convertibles and I never used the second cylinder. Just never got around to it.

Buds has the 5 1/2" blue in 45LC without the second cylinder:

Try to hold out for exactly what you want. I have tried "settling" a couple of times because I couldn't find what I wanted right off, and it never really pans out.

I had to wait a good 6 months or so before I came across the exact model of New Vaquero that I wanted. Be patient.

For one thing, the holster is made for the full size convertible .45 frame. Also, I am not a reloader. Yes, I know I should start, but that's not the point of this thread. If anything, the .45 Colt cylinder is the one I'd use the least, but I do want the ability to shoot it when I can find some interesting and high performance loads for it. Thanks guys!

Excellent holster. I've got them for both my large frame Blackhawks; a Lipsey's 3.75" Bisley and a 6.5" 50th Anniversary. I've taken both guns trail riding on motorcycles. Never an inkling of movement, and my holsters don't have straps.

Lipsey's was linked above. They are only a wholesaler and will ONLY sell direct to an FFL. They display the full MSRP to folks who do not have an FFL and an account with Lipsey's.
You can call them and ask for the name of a local FFL or if you know one they probably will have an account with Lisey's. The Price the FFL gives you depends on wholesale (a secret) plus the FFL's markup. SO the price will be closer to $650 most likely.

Thanks! I'll do that if I can't find one at the gun show tomorrow.

They are sturdy revolvers. I would just stalk GB until I got a used one for a good price. I have gotten four Ruger SA's that way and all of them are great shooters. You are highly unlikely to end up with one that is "worn out". My SBH is from 1970 or 71 and someone put a LOT of rounds through it. It still shoots great and will probably outlast me.

Thanks Tallball!!

I'm headin' down theres a ways tomorrow. Hopefully I'll find me one at the gun show. I'd prefer new if for only to pop it's cherry myself. :)

I got my blued 4 5/8" Blackhawk convertible through gunbroker and bought from Bud's Gun Shop back in 2014.
Actually, I am hoping to get a holster rig just like you got for my Ruger this year..

Guys I called Ruger.

The gal on the phone sounded young (and cute) but she wasn't too much help in locating this model. All she said was that since it's on the website, it's still in production. She also gave me a list of Ruger dealers in my area, which is no help since I already checked and none of them have the model I'm looking for.

Well nuts. Guys just please keep an eye out for this model for me. I'd greatly appreciate any help!!
