I need to know how to mount a scope please...

I have two: for one I have a B-square side mount, for the other a ‘Witchita’ bar that connects where the rear sight normally sits. Examples of both of these are found at Midway.

FWIW: I inherited these rifles from my fil for my young men. But I’ve never used them much because I could never get them to shoot consistently...

1. Can these be made more secure?
2. Do you simply mount rings straight to these?
3. What glass do you use?
4. Is there something else I’m missing?

I will be attending a 4 day class in Oct and these need to be made more solid before then...

Thanks,
Greg

You may want to check out the www.perfectunion.com site, they are very active with the mini. I use the factory mounts for my mini. I would assume for the mounts you have you would mount directly to them. I use a 1x4 CMR on my mini with 30 MM ruger mounts. I am sure that there are those on that site that would answer your question right away. Although a huge number of members, always happy to help on this site, not as many using the mini here.

What models? A newer one with tapered barrel will be more accurate and consistent. If it's an older pencil barrel consider an Accu-Strut type stabilizer.

As far as scopes, the Minis tend to be hard on them. I do recommend a Burris as they are about the stoutest scopes I've used. Ruger rings (locktite recommended) or Warne rings.

I had one of the B Square mounts on mine that mounted in place of the side plate that covers the bolt lock. I could never get it to keep the scope secure enough to stay sighted in. I finally took it off and sold it. This was 20 years ago, unless they have improved I would not waist my time with it. I enjoy shooting it with irons.

I actually have one of each. It is the standard that I want to scope a little better.

Thanks,
Greg

Keh the Wiegand mount linked is for the ranch? Cause it won't work on the standard mini.

Honestly the best options I've seen (sans some custom stuff) for the standard mini is to run an ultimak or amega and a scout scope.
Or with the amega you might be able to cantilever it back over the receiver enough to use a longer eye relief rifle scope.

There are some other versions of both the side mounts and the handguard replacements that I've not used. But the amega and the ultimak I can both recommend.

I'd be interested in seeing if the gg&g mounts any good, I had to pass on a fairly low priced mini the other day because I've never come up with a decent way to scope the non-ranch variants.

I’ll let you know how it works. They already shipped it, but IDK when I’ll get to a range soon...

Thanks for the tips guys. On all 3 threads I have right now...
