Its a 6" barrel, factory nickel S&W pre-model 10, with S/N 790200. with no
alphabetic letter(s); only these numeric markings. My guess is that it was
manufactuered a'round 1948; but I could be terribly wrong~! This gun is a
true 90 per center without box or doc's; any idea of the value of this firearm?
Many thanks for any help, or advice given~! ;) :D

The post-war revolvers started with serial numbers with an "S" prefix. I would expect the one you have was made before the war in 1940 or '41, in which case it would not have the positive hammer block introduced in 1945 and used thereafter. Value in the condition you describe would probably be around $375 to $450 The 6" barrel is unpopular with some, but not the Old Fuff who knows them to be a tack-driver. It will have the desireable "long action."

OF, I believe meant to say post-war for the S range. My info puts your piece firmly in 1941 and very likely one of the last commercial offerings. British service models began in the 68X,XXX. Both the Army and Navy had contracts in 1941 as well.

Otherwise I cocur with OF (as usual). Now be a nice guy and post a picture.

Haven't priced one lately, but historically they don't command a whole lot of money. Just too many of them?
The workmanship is typically breathtaking; the flats are dead flat, the bluing wonderful. How they polished the flats without rounding I can't imagine; not with a buffing wheel for sure.
At that price, it would have been a steal, tho'.
