Hi all. I just received my C&R license application packet in the mail today and I have a few questions for those who have filled them out before.

1. If there is a line that you can't fill out because it doesn't apply to you do you leave it blank or write down n/a?
2. On section 9 in the second box it asks for your position and SSN. What do you put down for position?
3. Section 14 asks for the address of the CLEO. Im assuming it wants the address of the sheriff's office or does it want his home address?
4. Section 15 asks for your title after your signature. What do I put for title?
5. Can I take the CLEO copy directly to the sheriff's office or do I have to mail it in?
6. Last Question. Does the ATF usually make home inspections for C&R applicants?

Sorry to be asking so many questions but I just want to get it right. Id hate to be denied because I made a dumb mistake on my paper. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. Usually safer to put n/a than to just leave it blank.
2. Just put "self" or "n/a" as position, it's not really important but again, blanks are bad....
3. Address of the CLEO is their office address.
4. On the title, I just put n/a on mine since it's an individual application.
5. Mail the CLEO's copy with a short letter just saying "I'm supposed to send this to you, thanks". The CLEO isn't required to do anything and there is no advantage to be gained by taking it in person. Their permission is not required.
6. Premise inspections are not required for issuing a C&R.

In fact, even after the license is issued you are not required to allow a premise inspection. You can demand they do it at their office rather than your place (unless a crime is suspected and they get a warrant).

At the election of the licensed collector, the annual inspection permitted by this paragraph shall be performed at the ATF office responsible for conducting such inspection in the closest proximity to the collector’s premises.

A tip: if you have a CHL, enclose a copy. Go to the post office and send the one to the LEO and ask for a "certificate of mailing" - costs like $.45. Enclose these two things with your app and a cover letter saying "I am enclosing this so you can see I have recently been fingerprinted and checked by my local LEO, and also that I have mailed the copy to them."

I did this and my license was processed in two weeks when the standard wait was 4 to 6 weeks. Using similar techniques has usually helped me get licensed very quickly in most circumstances and states.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I wasnt sure, I live so close to the office anyway I didnt know if it would be easier that way.

Dear Sheriff Fife,

Enclosed please find, as per federal regulation, a copy of my ATF Form 7CR. You are not required to take any action with respect to the enclosed form. If I can be of any service, or if there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at the address above. Please be advised this is not a license to do business, but only a license to collect.

Sincerely,
A Gun Nut

Your letterhead should be centered, for some reason the computer keeps justifying to the left.

Just mail it. They will process your cc or cash your check so you will know it's there. So that's basically delivery confirmation right there.

PS - you don't live near any "little pink houses," do you? ;)

Thanks for the help guys.
If you want "pink houses";) you might try over by Bloomington IN. Seymour apparently isnt good enough to build "little pink houses" in anymore.:cuss:

Ah, OK. I always remember that as I grew up just a little south of you closer to Louisville.
