Help with concealed carry purchase decision

I was in a similar situation as you. Though I have many guns to choose from I didn't have anything I felt was good for a comfortable concealed in the light clothing we usually wear in AZ. I wanted something in larger caliber than my Beretta 21 in .22lr that is a superbly fine small pistol. Something light weight I could easily carry in my pocket.

I have a S&W chief special but don't like the small grips and prefer the pachmayer compac's. Its a fine gun in an IWB holster as is my Walther PPK/s. Was looking at the Ruger LCP but had an opportunity for a good price point on the Kel Tec P3at so last week after some web research on opinions of others that have owned both along with some of the ammo testing out of the small pistols I picked one up.

For its intended purpose the little P3at is going to serve my needs. Its not a gun that will get shot much. The recoil isn't bad or even painful but the trigger is rather small, sharp at the bottom and too short to cover the trigger finger that hits the bottom of the trigger guard when shooting. Just one of those things with small pistols but it makes the trigger finger pained after a short while of shooting. The sights are very rudimentary but all I wanted from it was enough accuracy to hit center mass at 10 to 15 yds and make a head shot if needed.

Below are pics of the first 2 mags shot. Hold was one handed, ammo was Winchester USA FMJ from Walmart. Target was 10 yds for the first magazine and moved back to 15 yds for the second 6 shot magazine. The first 6 shots where more deliberate to see where the rounds where hitting and learning the trigger. Wasn't trying for the best small group but wanted to see if I had to shoot an assailant could I be confident of a center mass hit. The second 6 shot magazine was with the target at 15 yds fired at a quick bullseye rapid rate of fire in about 5 seconds. At that rate of fire 1/2 the round where outside the k1 but still withing the k2 area.

Went with the Ruger LCP

A friend of mine had the keltec 3AT and let me borrow the gun and ankle holster for two weeks. First when caring with the holster, and was very comfy and really didn't notice it.
Now shooting the gun. Wow this little gun packs a punch. I don't think i could have handled shotting more than 50 rounds with this gun. My hand was sore, and I did get a little cut on the thumb from the recoil. The gun also jammed once.
Bottom line for me after firing the gun was this. Yeah its not fun to shoot, but I like the caliber size, gun size and weight.
I went with the Ruger because I got for a good price (i think) and the quality just felt better with this as compared to the keltec.

thanks for the comments and help on my gun purchase.
