Georgia section 16-3-24 reads (partially) as follows:
"Code Section 16-3-24, relating to the use of force in defense of property other than a habitation, has no duty to retreat from the use of such force and shall not be held liable to the person against whom the use of force was justified or to any person acting as an accomplice or assistant to such person in any civil action brought as a result of the threat or use of such force."

My question is this,
Can I defend my property as in my yard, or does this relate to things such as my car, boat, RV etc.
Thanks!

Dgreno,
You can go here to find details about Georgia laws regarding CCW.

My interpretation of this law is that it does not require a person to attempt to flee prior to using deadly force and is intended to prevent civil lawsuits where the use of deadly force is lawfully employed.

The laws dealing with where the use of deadly force is permitted lie elsewhere in the code. The important factor that must be considered is that deadly force can only be used in defense of a "forcible felony". This means that you cannot use it to prevent someone from stealing your car from your driveway but you can use it to prevent being carjacked or robbed by an armed person. The key word is forcible as while grand theft auto is a felony it is not a forcible felony.

I am not a lawyer.
