I will soon be receiving my CCH in the mail and am looking into what type of holster will best fit my needs. I will be carrying a beretta 92F to start off with. I plan to purchase a smaller frame pistol in the future. In the mean time I have been looking at the options available. What I would like to achieve is a holster that would help in the concealment of such a large frame weapon. I was looking at a pancake stile holster last night and it did look promising. It would hold it close to the hip and was made of some type of webbing material. I have also look at a paddle stile holster it was nice and made of a type of plastic but the one draw back is that it stands-out from the hip, not enough to keep a unbuttoned shirt from covering it but I think that it would add more of a “print†then the other. It is all so confusing, can anyone help and give some suggestions?

mwithers72, you may wish to look at an IWB holster. These holsters are worn between the belt and your skin (or t-shirt). They are many excellent makers and models now.

I prefer the Milt Sparks Executive Companion in horse dyed black for enhanced tacticality in which I carry a Les Baer 1911, gummit sized pistola. Others will be by shortly to tell you the ones they use.

Oh, btw, get a good cardboard box.:D

A Milt Sparks Summer Special or Kramer IWB are excellent choices. With big guns like the Beretta choices are rather limited for true concealment unless you wear jackets or suits all the time.

There is a difference too between concealment and cover, not just in getting shot at but in carrying too. It sometimes isn't too difficult to pick out the guy with the gun at the local mall, yeah it may be covered but anyone with a brain knows the guy is carrying a gun. The IWB's help with this.

I realize that with a pistol of this size that it would be a great task or even an unattainable task to truly conceal it. The main thing that I am trying to do is to make it to where I will be a little less easy to spot. Is there a web site where I can look at these IWB holsters.

Both Kramer and Sparks have a website. I have used a Sparks Summer Special II for several years now with a 5" 1911 and it is very comfortable.

I normally use a high-rise pancake holster. I don't like the feel of IWB.
My handguns may 'print' some but to me not enough to be concerned about. I have had my shirt bunch up at a restaurant and show my holster but most of time I make an effort to tug my shirt when I stand. The drawback is I can't tuck my shirt until winter when I can wear a jacket.

I have been wearing one for 3 months now - everywhere, every day, with a full-size gun (Ruger P95) and spare mag. Never been spotted.

Short of a pocket holster and a Kahr K9/Kel-Tec P11, I can't think of another carry method that lets me wear whatever clothes I want.

Disadvantages: A little slower than an OWB or IWB, can be uncomfortable to sit for long periods, depending on your body type, clothing and seat angle.

I can't imagine concealed carry any other way.

Two things to remember:

1. Every gun owner has a "holster drawer" full of rejected holsters.
2. There's a reason cheap holsters are cheap.

Concealing a full sized pistol is easy to do w/ an IWB holster & the proper cover garment. Since the barrel of the pistol is in the pants. The only part that needs to be concealed is the grip. W/ OWB holsters you need a cover garment that covers the bottom of the holster. I conceal a full sized Glock 17. I use a Safariland M 27 which I don't recommend. My cover garment is a polo shirt/buttoned up short sleeve shirt 1 size larger than I normaly wear. W/ the holster, I don't like, my pistol dosen't print. My OWB mag/ShureFire 6P combo prints more. The first replacement holster I like is the Milt Sparks Versa Max II but I don't like the $95 price tag. I know of another gun leather maker Tauris holsters phone # 1-315-737-9115. That sells an "Enhanced" in the pant (IWB) holster for $70. This holster has belt loop in back/front of the holster on wings similar to the VMII. This is the holster I'm looking at to replace my present holster.

Anyway, I stopped adding holsters to my cardboard box once I purchased a VersaMax II.

Oh yeah? Just wait until Milt Sparks releases the VM III! You'll use it again!

Blade-Tech UCH. I carried that with no problems, but went back to my P7 only because my Beretta is my beater gun.
