One of a multitude of inexpensive to downright cheap shotguns of the 1900 era. In the 1901 Sears catalog a similar Remington sidelever single was $7.50 and the house brand was $5.65.
It is either fantastically well preserved, or by my theory, somebody practicing refinishing on a cheap gun. Pretty good job, too.
