Help with Identification

Hello...Newbie here - found you while doing a google search. Hope you can help with a small problem...

I received this rifle from my uncles estate after his passing - I have NO knowledge of what this rifle is. I have taken it to several gun shows and received MANY different responses but none that could tell me exactly what I have here. While I dont believe this rifle has much (if any) monatary value, its sentemental value is beyond measure.

If any of you care to take time, I have uploaded several close up pics of the rifle and ALL the markings that are on it (no serial numbers or manufacture identification) - all the markings in the pics are all that we can find while dissasembled. pics are on my personal space at:

Wow. Any idea as to the caliber? Maybe .22?

It's home made. The barrel appears to be from a Winchester, either an 1873 or an 1892. The receiver also appears to be from some other gun as shown by the incomplete marking that was partly cut away. The trigger guard also appears to be from some other rifle or shotgun. The internal parts are home made or greatly altered.

It could be the product of some one working on his great idea, or it could be the work of someone who wanted a rifle and had some machine skills but no money.

Unless prototypes or hand made rifles were made by someone who later became famous, they have little value. Sam Colt's first hand made prototype - priceless. My home made gun - junk.

Is the bore even rifled? I see a "32" on part of the barrel, which might mean 32 gauge, which might make sense given the limited case head support on the bolt face.

+1 on homemade.

It is for sure a centerfire, and not a rimfire .32.

It for sure has a Winchester VP proof mark on the barrel.

But it isn't any Winchester I ever saw.

I'll vote homemade out of some old bolt-action shotgun with an old Winchester rifle barrel put on it.

yep yep looks a lot like a 92 someone made into a bolt action, I wouldn't shoot that thing

thanks guys - trust me, i have NO intention of shooting this thing!! its definately a wall hanger at this stage ...

it does have rifled bore but they appear to be toast (way too much rust and corrosion inside...couldnt clean it up with bore brushes).

It was just a curious piece that I couldnt identify and all my previous attempts to have it identified came up empty. There were a few folks that also said it appears to be a home made rifle. that seems to be the consensus here as well so that is good enuff for me...
