Hi all. trying to determine whether the SA barrel on my HI Garand is OE or after added.i know that HI did use SA barrels very early on, and can someone help with the serial no on receiver (for dating build date as very early) and SA parts no on barrel for one of these early builds. i would add the numbers from this rifle to the post, but am not home. thanks for any assistance.

For one thing, if it's an International Harvester rifle it isn't a "very early build" as they didn't make any during WW2. The barrels on IH rifles are most all "LMR" maker marked, from 1953 through 1956, so in all likelyhood your barrel was installed after manufacture in an arsenal rebuild.
Springfield Armory made early RECEIVERS for IH but they're marked IH in one form or another. First numbers approx. 4,400,000.
Not that it matters a lot.

The barrel would not have a serial number, only a date such as 6 65 meaning June 1965.

What are the first three numbers of the serial number on the receiver and what is the date on the barrel? Are the bolt and trigger group IHC?

If the barrel is not LMR marked, it is most likely a replacement/rebuild.
