Oh my word
Someone needs a lesson on setting up a die .

Yep! Rifle dies are a lot harder than straight wall pistol dies. I didnt seem to struggle with neck sizing at least.

You guys have been very helpful though and once I clear this stuck case I think I'll be in a good place.

I have taken some of the top of the shell holder off so the die is "shorter" and allows the brass to move further into the resizer.

No, when a reloaders removes metal from the top of the shell holder he reduces the deck height of the shell holder. Decreasing the deck height of the shell holder increases the presses ability to overcome the cases ability to resist sizing. I could say "think about it" but Redding does not make shell holders for sizing cases for short chambers. I size cases for short chambers because; when I start cutting a chamber I want to know the length of the chamber from the shoulder of chamber to the bolt face. I have never found it necessary to grind the top of the shell holder or bottom of the die.

Again' I have a set of Redding Competition shell holders for magnum cases. I have never used a shell holder from the set. The set cost me $5.00, If I needed a shell holder with additional deck height it would require more than .010". I have one chamber that requires an additional .014" because the length of the chamber from the shoulder to the bolt face is .002" longer than a field reject length chamber.

You are correct F. Guffy. I should of said I take small amount of material off of the shell holder to make it "shorter" and not the die. I don't change anything on the die. My bad. Although it appears you may have an objection to changing the height (deck height ?) of the shell holder.
I guess I should of proof read my work a little closer. I will correct this. kwg

Mark the shell holder, as it will affect any die you use it with. I'd rather shorten the die if needed, which is rare.
