I am going to build my handgun collection back up to it's glory days. Most of the guns I have now are replacements for ones I sold during hard times. So I am making a list of the "important" items I still need to build back the collection. These are the guns that I think I need. Let me know the major players you guys think I am missing.

1911 Fullsized
1911 Commander
Hi Power
Walther P99
Glock 19
Walther PPKS
Sig 230
Beretta 92
CZ75

I think a 3rd gen Smith would be a nice addition. I'd consider a 3906, 3913, or 4506.

You're lacking a Ruger MKIII or a Browning Buckmark. Can't forget the best bang-for-the-buck handgun caliber: the lowly .22lr!!! ;)

Dang, you're also missing out on the fun of revolvers!!!

A Ruger GP100 would be a good starting point.

Agree w/ previous post. A GP-100. Also a 22 LR pistol for warming up.

If I were you, this is what my collection would look like:

Full size 1911*
Commander size 1911
BHP
Glock* or HK USP
Sig Sauer P226* (either steel or aluminum frame)
Sig P239* (compact auto)
GP-100
22 LR pistol*

The ones I have an asterisk on are guns I currently have. The ones with no asterisk are guns I used to have and have seriously regretted selling.

IMHO, if you have all these guns, you're pretty much covered for having lots of shooting fun. But if you're into CCW, these may not fit your bill.

Good options

Storm, I own a 3913LS, 4013TSW and a chief special 9 that I picked up tonight. What a freakin awesome gun. So no need to shop for them.

AllisonDT, A browning buckmark will always be in my collection. I've owned 3 and am looking for a micro to replace the one's I've sold, and this is just the start I have about 10 revolvers to replace too. Currently I only have a SAA .22 Herters but there will be Taurus and S&W wheelguns in the safe.

I have an Astra Constable .22 that needs some refinishing but it works.

Ruger Mark II or III
HK P7M8
Colt Python
S&W Model 65 or 686 or something!
Sig Sauer P226
Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec

Benderx4

I got a real sig 225 not P6 to fill the sig 9mm slot (there has to be a sig in the collection) and I loved the 230 Blued I had, maybe I should add a 220 also. I was considering putting the HK squeeze cocker on my list but it's one of the few guns that I have never owned. I handled one once and remember them to be very heavy for the size. Did they make a double and single stack? Is there a weight difference between models? Is one more traditional than the other models?

Looks to me like you have the semi-auto area pretty well covered. You also indicated that revolvers will be next - maybe I'll tune again later to see how you're doing. (I could not find a similar thread from you in the revolver section.)

For a revolver it's hard to do better than a Model 19, pin and recessed if you can. And, of course, the 686.

An HK P7 would be great.

You need a 10mm (S&W 1006, 1076, 1046, 1086 etc). Nice well rounded collection though.

The collection screams for an HK. Many outstanding HKs to choose from. P30 9mm, new HK 45...less recoil than most, HK P7 a classic that they don't make anymore thus the high prices, and of course the below with 2 barrels.........
